{"id":61792,"date":"2026-02-03T21:10:56","date_gmt":"2026-02-03T10:10:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/f1chronicle.com\/?p=61792"},"modified":"2026-02-03T21:10:56","modified_gmt":"2026-02-03T10:10:56","slug":"jack-doohan-joins-haas-as-reserve-driver-in-bid-to-reignite-formula-1-career","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/f1chronicle.com\/jack-doohan-joins-haas-as-reserve-driver-in-bid-to-reignite-formula-1-career\/","title":{"rendered":"Jack Doohan Joins Haas as Reserve Driver in Bid to Reignite Formula 1 Career"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Former Alpine driver Jack Doohan has been confirmed as Haas\u2019 official reserve driver for the upcoming Formula 1 season, marking the next step in his bid to return to the grid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Doohan made his Formula 1 debut with Alpine at the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix before contesting the opening six races of the 2025 campaign with the Enstone-based squad. However, by round seven at Imola, Alpine opted to reshuffle its line-up, moving Doohan into a reserve role and promoting Franco Colapinto. Initially handed a five-race audition, Colapinto ultimately retained the seat for the remainder of the season and into 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After parting ways with Alpine in January, Doohan explored opportunities outside of F1, including a prospective Super Formula drive with Kondo Racing. That move failed to materialise after the Japanese outfit instead signed Ukyo Sasahara, leaving Doohan searching for a new route to stay connected to the Formula 1 paddock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That opportunity has now arrived at Haas, where Doohan will work alongside existing reserve driver Ryo Hirakawa. Hirakawa continues to balance his Formula 1 responsibilities with a full-time campaign in the World Endurance Championship, racing Toyota\u2019s Hypercar programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m thrilled to be joining TGR Haas F1 Team,\u201d Doohan said. \u201cIt\u2019s the ideal place to continue my Formula 1 career. I\u2019d like to thank the team for the opportunity to grow and take on the challenge of 2026 together. I\u2019m really looking forward to getting started and contributing to a successful season.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu welcomed the signing, highlighting both Doohan\u2019s experience and motivation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m personally very excited to have Jack join us,\u201d Komatsu said. \u201cHe brings a strong racing r\u00e9sum\u00e9 and valuable experience as a reserve driver in Formula 1. Staying sharp and ready while fully integrating into a team is never easy, especially for a driver eager to <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/f1chronicle.com\/how-a-formula-1-race-is-televised\/\" title=\"How A Formula 1 Race is Televised\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"7274\">race<\/a> again at this level.
